As we disembarked the plane the warm night air wrapped its arms around us, the familiar smell of Africa hit my nostrils, and I felt ‘at home’ once more. John and I had left London in the pouring rain only to arrive to a balmy evening in Marrakech as we set out on our latest trip with Forever.

We walked across the tarmac to the terminal building where I was a bit dismayed to see long queues of people waiting to get their papers stamped and passports cleared. One of the down sides to travel is definitely the waiting in queues at airports. Suddenly a smart young man approached us and asked if we were Jayne and John, a quick nod of the head confirmed we were upon which he politely requested that we follow him. We were whisked into a VIP lounge, our passports taken and within minutes we were out of the terminal, luggage in the car, and en-route to our hotel. I felt a little guilty (just for a brief moment) at being out so fast when others would have to wait for hours.
Twenty minutes later we were arrived at the stunning Hotel Selman. It’s not often I am left speechless, yet the reception we received upon our arrival was truly incredible at the most palatial of hotels. Representatives of Forever France were there to welcome us, and if that was not enough hot mint tea and sweets awaited us on our terrace to watch the sun go down with.

Our suite is built in typical riad style overlooking the 90 metre long pool and surrounding gardens, and in the background the sounds of the local muezzin calling worshippers to pray as the sun gently slipped off the horizon.
Tonight we are off to explore the Jemaa el Fna, the main square in Marrakech, which is reputed to be amazing at night. That’s all for now but stay tuned as I will be updating the blog throughout our trip.
